A lot people say it better to buy a mutual fund with certain star rating. I wonder if those existing fund for a long time already earn enough and no room for them to grow. So, should I buy a new fund or a fund existing for a long time with good rating??

Star rating does not always say much about how a manager achieve this. There is a decent web site you might want to check called fundmojo that provides history on fund rating, holdings and other information that might be useful in your research.
